Lucca Valentine for Paush | Coming Soon!

Back one Summer day, Lucca Valentine and her stylish mommy, Tori Hendrix from Sitting in a Tree, were my last customer and mini customer of the day. They both came in matching in white vintage-y frocks. They were like a dream that came and went.

I adored the sweet, little and sheer number Lucca wore that day and I was inspired to design white, dreamy, vintage-y frocks for little girls just like Lucca. That’s when we decided to offer a Vintage Battenburg Lace Pinafore Dress for our line, Paush.

Screen Shot 2015-02-01 at 7.49.34 AM

Every time I saw Lucca on Instagram, I would get inspired by her super cute style all over again and thought “How rad would it be to design a children’s line around Lucca Valentine?” A couple months later, Tori came in again to shop. I built up the courage to pitch the idea to Tori, and she LOVED it! I felt so honored to have an opportunity to work with such talent especially with someone who is so busy running her own business. It was as if Tori was meant to come in that day and shop. 🙂

Tori and I got to work and we started developing and designing the line 5 months ago. This is when Lucca Valentine for Paush was born.

JAMES-DENIM-SHIRT-COVERBack to School is now in session and denim is a great staple piece to have in your kids closet! Let us show you how to get 4 different boys and girls looks with one denim shirt. And don’t be afraid to mix vintage & new! :o)

Denim looks great layered. Try layering denim with a boys v-neck sweater and polish it off with a tweed blazer. The perfect finishing touch to any kids fall outfit.  James Denim Shirt by A for Apple // Santiago Slim Denim Jeans by Mini Rodini // Vintage Cricket Sweater // Vintage Tweed Blazer // Miller Shoes by Natives

Meet Kylie Marco | Mini Stylist for Sweet Threads

ImageIntriguing, fashionable with a unique sense of style, a blogger, an actress, an artist and spreads cheerfulness all around her. These are words I use to describe a striking 12 year old girl I met at the Rose Bowl Flea Market earlier this year. She’s not your average 12 year old friends. Meet Kylie Marco from sunnysideky.blogspot.com.

Kylie first stepped into our booth at the Rose Bowl Flea Market earlier in February. She had the cutest vintage schoolgirl inspired ensemble, wearing adorable vintage round eyeglasses that were probably too big for her frame but seemed to work nicely and finished off her outfit with a big statement bow atop her head! I was intrigued and almost intimidated to approach her. When I finally got a chance to say hello she politely introduced herself and handed me her business card. Oh boy, was I pleasantly surprised by one, her sense of style and second, her professionalism from such a young gal. Then came the cherry on top. Kylie turns out to be a blogger! She’s just simply amazing. I’d continue to run into her at the local flea markets and she’ll even occasionally sell at her very own booth. She’ a mighty fine seller at that!

ImageSweet Threads had their upcoming Fall13 Look Book shoot to plan for and being that we like to promote and encourage children’s arts and creativity, we thought this was the perfect opportunity to invite Kylie to join the team as our mini stylist.

Boy were we lucky to have her come on board! Even with her busy Summer schedule with taking acting classes, cello and japanese lessons and keeping up with her blog, she was still able to squeeze some time to help Sweet Threads. See her in action below in photos taken by Katie Ging!

We had a chance to sit with Kylie and get to know her a little better. Check out what she has to say.

How did you come up with the blog title Sunny Side Ky?

“I thought about things that were happy, cheery and what came to mind were phrases such as “Sunny Side of the Street” or “Bright Side of the Mind”. That’s when I came up with ‘Sunny Side Kylie’.”

What made you want to start a blog?

“My dad pulled up a photo of Tavi Gevinson and said she has really good tatse. I asked my dad what a blog was. He mentioned you can design it a certain way and talked about how I could make a statement with it. I then thought of a starting a fashion blog as a way to express myself.”

Where does your love for vintage come from?

“Vintage is one of a kind and very unique. With a vintage piece, I knew no one else would be wearing it. I felt I could set a trend with my style.”

Dead or alive, who would you want to meet?

“Vincent Van Gough.”

Where do you see yourself in 10-20 years?

“Backstage at NY Fashion Week styling.”

What kind of music do you enjoy listening to?

“Classical or broadway music. I like to listen to classical music especially when studying. I can recognize things better.”

Tell us your favorite quote and where you found it.

“I found my favorite quote on a Juice Box and it read ‘Be yourself, everybody else is taken’ ~ Fat Albert. “

Kylie is not your normal 7th grader. She wants to make statements and show others that you can express yourself any way you want.

Amazing, right? Such an inspiration! I have a big hunch this girl is going to do or be someone big. Just you wait and see.
